Dennis Hoppe
CEYLON — Services for Dennis Hoppe, 78, of Ceylon, Minn., formerly of Trimont, Minn., will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Waverly Lutheran Church in rural Trimont, Minn. Burial will be held in Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery in Fairmont. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of service from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Waverly Lutheran Church in rural Trimont, Minn. Dennis passed away Sunday, December 24, 2023, at Mayo Clinic Health System-St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester, Minn. Kramer Family Funeral Home of Trimont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dennis Ervin Hoppe was born on April 3, 1945, in Truman, Minn. He was the son of Ervin and Doris Maxine (Kneeland) Hoppe. Dennis attended Waverly Township School and then Trimont grade school and then later attended Fraser Church Parochial School. Dennis then attended Waseca Ag School where he spent all four years as a student manager of the football and basketball teams before graduating in 1963. Dennis furthered his education at Mankato Business College where he earned a degree in accounting.
After college, Dennis worked as a Bookkeeper and Accountant for Northstar Concrete, Farmers Coop Elevator, and then was a broker for Commodities. He later worked with his wife, Linda, as owners of Countrywide Real Estate in Fairmont as well as doing personal income taxes on the side.
In 1967, Dennis was united in marriage to Cherlyn Voelker. This union was blessed with two children, Todd and Wanita. Dennis was then united in marriage to Linda (Janssen) Spiegeler at Waverly Lutheran Church in rural Trimont on June 20, 1987. Dennis and Linda shared over twenty-five years together before Linda passed away on February 27, 2013.
Dennis was very active in his community. Along with organizing and coaching baseball from Pony League through Legion ball, he was also a member of the Trimont Chamber of Commerce, Conservation Club including acting as past-President and Treasurer and Trimont Historical Society as past-President.
Left to cherish his memory include his son, Todd (Charity) Hoppe of Granada, Minn; stepdaughter, Melanie (Eric) Muller of Ceylon, Minn.; daughter-in-law, Kim Spiegeler of Armstrong, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; siblings, John (Adele) Hoppe of Gardnerville, Nev., Curt (Darlis) Hoppe of Sherburn, Minn. and Pam (Dennis) Faber of Sherburn, Minn.; sisters-in-law, Wendy (Dennis) Beaulieu of Babbit, Minn., Penny (Tom) Claussen of Sherburn, Minn. and Sharon (Doyle) Moeller of rural Dunnell, Minn.; nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends.
Along with his parents, Ervin and Doris Hoppe, Dennis was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Hoppe; daughter, Wanita Hoppe; stepson, Roger Spiegeler; brother, David Hoppe; sisters-in-law, Ruth Pavich, and Judith Nielson; and parents-in-law, Paul and Mary Groskreutz.
