Violet M. Evans
BLUE EARTH — Violet M. Evans, age 93, of Blue Earth, Minn., passed away peacefully Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center. Private family services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, with burial taking place at Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. A luncheon will follow the burial at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. Patton Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Violet was born Jan. 31, 1930, in Amboy, Minn., the daughter of Carl and Bertha (Stensland) Nemitz. They moved to Delavan and then to Blue Earth when she was 7. She attended school in Blue Earth and married Merelyn “Moe” Evans in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on June 30, 1948, by Rev. John Medin. She worked at J.C. Penny in Blue Earth, the Driver’s License Bureau, and in the lunchroom at Blue Earth High School. She later went on to manage the noon lunch until 1988 when she retired.
Violet was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a VFW Auxiliary member. She was active in many church activities, and was known for making the roast beef for the TLC stand at the Faribault County Fair and for supper at Trinity Lutheran Church. Vi enjoyed crochet and embroidery and later playing cards at the Senior Center.
Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Carol (Dennis) Ruser of Blue Earth and Sharol (Mark) St. Cin of Montgomery, Ala.; two sons, Duane (Mary) Evans of Winnebago and Randy (Jean) Evans of Charles City, Iowa; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Gary (Lolita) Evans of San Diego, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merelyn; her parents;
two sisters and one brother; her in-laws, Reinhold and Hazel Evans; and sister-in-law, Geneva Evans. www.pattonfh.com
