LEDYARD — Marion Brandt, 92, of Ledyard, Iowa, passed on to her eternal home with Jesus on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2023, at Accura Healthcare Home in Bancroft, Iowa. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at Bethany Evangelical and Reformed Church in Ledyard. Her family will greet friends from 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Highland Home Cemetery, Ledyard.

Marion Fae Klinksiek was born July 14, 1931, to August and Alma (Blome) Klinksiek. Marion attended school in Ledyard, Iowa. Following high school, Marion worked in several places including Dr. Murray’s dental office in Lakota, Fairmont Railway Motors and the Credit Bureau in Albert Lea, Minn.

Marion was married to Irvin Brandt on Feb. 15, 1957, at the E&R Church in Ledyard, Iowa. They made their home north of Ledyard where together they raised two boys, Gregory and Rodney. Marion provided Irvin continuous support as they shared the work of farming, raising livestock and maintaining a busy home. Marion was an avid gardener and cook, making many meals for the men in the field. She also took great pride in keeping a beautifully manicured lawn. During the years of raising Greg and Rod, Marion was their biggest fan, following both in any ballgames they participated in. This dedication to cheering for her boys continued as she cheered her grandchildren on from the stands when they were playing sports. She was so proud of each of them. Anyone that knew Marion knew she was especially fond of cats and that her farm cats received top care from her.

Marion spent many years practicing and perfecting her skills as an organist. She could be found every Sunday in the front of the church as she played the organ. Marion also played for many funerals and other functions. Marion loved her church and was an active member of many church groups. She helped in the church wherever she was able to.

Irvin and Marion enjoyed vacationing at Leach Lake in northern Minnesota for many years. You would find Marion out on the boat catching fish right alongside Irvin, Greg and Rod.

Marion was blessed to live near both of her boys and that blessing became even greater as her boys began having children. Being in close proximity to her children gave Marion and her grandchildren the chance to form very special bonds. She loved each of them dearly and cherished every visit she had with them. Marion’s family blessings continued to grow with each great grandchild she had, and she also quickly formed lasting relationships with them.

Throughout the years Marion was also close to her nieces and nephews and their families. She was always interested in their lives and showed that when she visited with them. She appreciated the many visits she received from them while living at Accura in Bancroft.

Marion is preceded in death by her husband, Irvin in 2010. Also, preceding Marion in death are her parents, August and Alma; sisters, Lillian (Ted) Thilges, Luella Klinksiek and Dorothy (Harold) Warner; brothers, Ervin (Luetta) Klinksiek and Howard (Marian) Klinksiek; and Irvin’s brother and sister-in-law, Orville and Irene Brandt.
