Janice F. Stromberg

FAIRMONT — A funeral service for Janice F. Stromberg, age 78, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, at East Chain Lutheran Church with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at the Lakeview

Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

Janice passed away Monday evening, Oct. 2, 2023, at her home in Fairmont surrounded by her family. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Janice Faye (Luhmann) Stromberg was born Dec. 25, 1944, in Fairmont, Minn., the daughter of Clarence and Winnefred (Oltman)Luhmann. Janice was baptized as an infant on Jan. 7, 1945, at St. James Lutheran Church in Northrop, Minn., and was later confirmed in her youth on Aug. 28, 1958, at East Chain Lutheran Church. She attended East Chain school and graduated from East Chain High School in 1962. After high school, Janice worked at Our Own Hardware in Fairmont and later for Martin County National Bank until a month before her first daughter, Deb, was born.

On April 5, 1964, Janice was united in marriage to Norwood “Woody” Stromberg at the East Chain Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with three children, Debra, Patricia and Robert. The family resided in East Chain before before Janice and Woody moved to Fairmont in 2012. Janice and Woody shared over fifty-nine years together.

Along with being a homemaker, farm wife and caring for her family on the farm, Janice was a past East Chain 4-H club leader where she was a Martin County council member multiple times. She was a strong supporter of the Martin County Fair and 4-H program. As a long-time member of East Chain Lutheran Church, Janice was active with the Deborah Circle, church council, WELCA, as well as making many quilts with the church women. During her free time, Janice enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s various activities at their

schools. She most loved the time she was able to spend with her family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory include her husband, Woody Stromberg of Fairmont, Minn.; daughters, Deb Cole of Ringsted, Iowa and Patti Mielke of East Chain, Minn.; son, Bob (Lisa) Stromberg of East Chain, Minn.; grandchildren, Blake (Heather Pedersen) Cole, Blaine Cole, Rachael (Shawn Neufeld) Mielke, Derek (Courtney) Mielke, Noah Wedel and Logan Wedel; great-grandchildren, Brycen, Hailey and Harley Cole; sister, Claudia Kastning; sister-in-law, Judy (Terry) Leiding; brothers-in-law, Victor Abelson and Darrell Buhmann; uncle, Jim (Karen) Oltman; aunt, Arleen (Virgil) Heidenreich: many nieces,

nephews, other relatives and friends.

Along with her parents, Clarence and Winnefred Luhmann, Janice was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Chris Mielke; granddaughter, Morgan Mielke; sister, Diana Abelson; sister-in-law, Janice Buhmann; brothers-in-law, Norman Stromberg and Dennis Kastning; and parents-in-law, Oscar and Alma Stromberg.
