Theo Miller

FAIRMONT — Funeral services for Theo A. Miller, age 99, of Roseville, Minn., formerly of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, Fairmont. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Theo passed away Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, at M Health Fairview Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury, Minn. Memorials are preferred to St. Paul Lutheran Church or St. Paul Lutheran Church Charity Club in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in

Theo Ardis Hines was born June 26, 1924, to Theodore and Edna Hines (Stinchfield). She spent her childhood on a farm, attended country school through the eighth grade and then on to graduate from Truman High School in 1942. In March of 1943 she started nursing in the Abbott Hospital School of Nursing. This was during WWII and Theo entered the United Nurses Cadet Corp, trading her tuition and expenses for future service to the military or war effort. After graduating as an RN she worked one and a half years in the Visiting Nurse Service in New York City. Theo returned to Fairmont and started her long career at the Fairmont Community Hospital in 1947.

In 1948 she married Merton Miller of Fairmont and they remained in Fairmont for 66 years. Theo and Merton had three sons; Gary and Barbara (Keefe) from Chanhassen, Roger and Lynn (Morris) from Minnetonka and Cory and Diane (Burley) from Woodbury. Theo has six grandchildren, Joan Johnson (Andrew), Catherine Colwell (Brien), John (Carolyn), Julia, Brandon, Alyssa; six great-granddaughters, Isabella Miller, Evelyn Miller, Margaret Johnson, Madelyn Johnson, Willa Colwell and Una Colwell. Theo is survived by all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Theo was preceded in death by her husband, Merton; parents; sisters, Jean Winch, Betty Ranallo; and brothers, William, Stewart and John (infant).Theo was a member of St. Paul Lutheran church and its Charity

Club, a life member of the Fairmont Hospital Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary. Theo’s constant expression of love was her joy of baking something wonderful for her friends, visitors and family. Theo was an avid game and card player, immensely enjoying her time spent with family and friends playing any type of game.
