Marie ‘ReRe’ Wenzel

FAIRMONT — A memorial service for Marie “ReRe” (Eckmann) Wenzel, age 94, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023, at the Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel in Fairmont, with visitation from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Inurnment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont. Marie passed away Wednesday morning, Sept. 20, 2023, at the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Marie Minne Katherine (Eckmann) Wenzel was born April 19, 1929, in Martin County, Minn., the daughter of Albert and Malinda (Kruse) Eckmann. Marie had several older siblings at the time. She attended District 5 school until the 8th grade when her help was needed on

the farm.Marie lived in Martin County most of her life and enjoyed socializing with many of the friends she made. She had a talent for being a mothering person, always there to help, share and give that special hug that at times, one needs. Marie made her home in Fairmont, Minn. Living with Fritzie Eckmann and working and caring for all as she enjoyed her adult years. She worked at Peerless Laundry, Stokley Canning Factory and Mallon Egg Company for 37 years.

Marie met Ben Wenzel and moved to Oklahoma City, Okla., where they married on July 20, 1982, and lived for several years before moving back to Fairmont. Marie moved to Ingleside on Aug. 1, 2008, and in April of 2021, moved to Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center where she remained until the time of her passing. Marie was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fairmont, and was active in all the activities that Ingleside and

Lakeview Methodist offered. She enjoyed dancing and doing word search puzzles. Marie most loved the time she was able to spend with her family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory include her siblings, Bill (Orra) Eckmann, Ervin (Denise) Eckmann, Melvin Eckmann and Janet Diekmann; sisters-in-law, Judy Carlson and Loretta Spencer; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will truly miss her. Along with her parents, Albert and Malinda Eckmann, Marie was preceded in death by Fritzie Eckmann; her husband, Ben Wenzel; siblings, Clarence Eckmann, Alberta (Donald) Haskins, Donald Eckmann and Richard Eckmann; stepsiblings, Martin Eckmann, Floyd Eckmann, Roy Eckmann, Mabel Weise, Lillian Kettner, Rose Dyslin and Alfredia Rettel; and sister-in-law, Patti Eckmann.
