Lorrene R. Knuth

DUNNELL — Funeral services for Lorrene R. Knuth, 94, of rural Dunnell, Minn., will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2023, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon, Minn., with burial in Lake Belt Cemetery, rural Ceylon.

Lorrene was called to her eternal rest Friday, Sept. 1, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Home in Jackson, Minn. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Monday, Sept. 11, at the church in Ceylon. Lorrene Rose Knuth was born June 10, 1929, to William and Minnie (Poppe) Knuth on the family farm in Lake Belt Township, rural Dunnell, Minn. She was baptized and later confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon. She received her education in Ceylon schools and later graduated with the class of 1947. Lorrene then attended Franklin Hospital of Nursing School in Minneapolis, Minn. and graduated in 1949. After college she began her career at the Fairmont Community Hospital, three years in pediatrics and 42 years in surgical until her retirement. She spent her time between Fairmont and the family farm her entire career. Lorrene retired on the family farm in Lake Belt Township, rural Dunnell. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon. Lorrene loved to garden, travel, quilting, creating crafts, cooking and being outdoors.

She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Fred Knuth of Chadrin, Neb., Harold Knuth and his wife, Elverna of rural Dunnell, Minn., Velma Christensen of Buffalo, Minn., Marvin Knuth and his wife, Delores of Rapid City, S.D., Gerri Knuth of Sioux Falls, S.D., Caroline Medina of Custer, S.D.; nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Lorrene was preceded in death by her parents, William and Minnie Knuth; sister, Ada Colvin; brothers, William “Bill” Knuth, Melvin Knuth; brothers-in-law, Ben Colvin, Duane Christensen and John Medina; and other relatives.
