Gary passed away Thursday afternoon, Aug. 31, 2023, at his home in Ceylon. Memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic Hospice. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Gary Lee Muller was born May 2, 1949, in Worthington, Minn., son of William and Flory (Saathoff). When Gary was 10 months old, the family moved to Alexandria and then to Kensington, Minn. They lived there until Gary was seven and where he attended country school. Then they moved to Okabena, Minn., where Gary graduated from Okabena High School. He furthered his education at Jackson Vocational School for auto body repair.

On Aug. 24, 1968, Gary was united in marriage to Janice Peterson at Heron Lake Methodist Church. The couple lived in Heron Lake before moving to Estherville, Iowa for two years where Gary worked for Ford in the body shop. They later moved to Fairmont where he

worked in the body shop for Ford before the couple settled in Ceylon, Minn. in 1973. Gary owned and operated a body shop there until he began working for the Ceylon Co-op in 1989, which later became NuWay, delivering L.P. gas until his retirement in January of 2013. Gary and Janice shared 55 years together and were blessed with three children, Eric, Terry and Tara. Gary was very active in his spare time. Along with being a member of the Ceylon Fire Department for 24 years, he also played the drums in various area bands as well as with friends. Gary also coached baseball and helped with boy scouts. After his retirement, Gary could often be found tinkering in the barn that he built or working on old cars. His greatest love was the time he was able to spend with his family, especially when he could do something with or show something to his grandchildren. Gary’s family was his world

and he was very proud of each and every one of them.

Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Janice Muller of Ceylon, Minn.; sons, Eric (Melanie) Muller of Ceylon and Terry (Mary) Muller of Ceylon; daughter, Tara (Kelly) Kayser of Hartford, S.D.; seven grandchildren, Dylan Muller of Ceylon, Ashley Muller of Ceylon, Emily Muller of Ceylon, Tanner Muller of Ceylon, Jacob Buntjer of Ankeny, Iowa, Brigan Kayser of Hartford, S.D. and Breyer Kayser of Hartford, S.D.; brother, Siebe (Maizy) Muller of Slayton, Minn.; sisters, Henrietta (Larry) Cowan of Windom, Minn. and Annette Kemp of Fairmont, Minn.; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
