Susan A. Stevens

FAIRMONT — Services for Susan A. Stevens, 76, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 11 a.m. on Sept. 5, 2023, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Susan passed away Sunday, Aug. 27, 2023, at Season’s Healthcare Center in Trimont, Minn. Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Susan Adele (Emberger) Stevens was born Oct. 4, 1946, in Byrn Mawz, Pa., the daughter of William S. and Martha O. (Barton) Emberger. Following her graduation from high school, Sue worked as the Worthy Advisor in the International Order of Rainbow for Girls. She later worked for Daylesford Veterinary Clinic. She would later go on to work as an executive secretary for Georgia Pacific Corp, Shell Chemical Corp and Wyeth International Laboratories. Her career gave her the opportunity to live in various parts of the United States, including Oregon, Pennsylvania, Georgia and Michigan, before retiring in Fairmont, Minn.

On Feb. 1, 1998, Susan was united in marriage to Gary Stevens in Las Vegas, Nev. Together the couple made their home in Fairmont where they celebrated almost 20 years of marriage. Susan kept busy serving on various boards in the Fairmont area. She was active on the Fairmont Hospital Auxiliary Board for 7 years and was on the Ladies Golf Committee Board at Interlaken Golf Course. Sue was passionate about golf and was lucky enough to experience a hole-in-one on #13 at Interlaken in addition to winning the 1st flight of the Women’s Club Tournament for two years in a row. In her spare time, Sue enjoyed working in her garden and finding treasures at area antique shops. She had a special place in her heart for her four-legged friends and looked forward to trips to Florida with her friend for Mardi Gras celebrations.

Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Sandra A. Hay; nieces, Holly Hay and Jill Hay; nephews, Tom Hay and Michael Hay; step-children, Lori (Jeff) Joyce, Mark Stevens, Greg Stevens and Brad Stevens; step-grandchildren: Nicole Stevens, Tyler Joyce, Dr. Andrew Joyce, Ryan Stevens, Cassandra Stevens, Savannah Stevens and Parker Stevens; four step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carmen and Rev. James Bornzin; as well as many other extended family and friends. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, William and Martha Emberger; and husband, Gary Stevens.
