TRUMAN — Carl “Butch” Gene Bosshart, age 74, of Truman, Minn., passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 25, 2023, at home surrounded by family. A memorial service will be held 12 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023, at Zaharia Family Funeral Home with Rev. Timothy Chase officiating. Carl was born June 24, 1949, in Amery, Wis., to Walter “Gene” and Emma “Marie” (Swanson) Bosshart. The family moved to the South Farm in Truman when Butch was young. He attended and graduated from Truman High School. Butch was a member of the U.S. Navy SeaBees, serving two tours in Vietnam, and after the Navy, became a member of the National Guard. He was a member of the Patriot Guards, Disabled American Veterans and Vietnam Veterans of America. Butch grew up in the construction industry and continued that family legacy throughout his career. On April 17, 1981, he married the love of his life, Kathryn “Kathy” Kay Delaney, in Worthington. Together, the couple settled in Truman and raised their family.

Butch was a storyteller, advice-giver, a fix-it man, always there for assistance when you needed it. He was a loving friend, father, husband and so much more. He loved to tell “Ole and Lena” jokes, spend time outdoors and took great care of his pristine lawn. He enjoyed woodworking, tweaking “The Recipe,” fishing, riding motorcycle, music and playing guitar. He attended Sturgis since the mid-70’s, and has kept the same campsite “on the hill” in Sturgis for over the last 20 years. The sidewalk in downtown Sturgis is now marked with a brick in his memory.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 42 years, Kathy; children, James (Mickie) Bosshart of Fairmont, Melonie (Steve) Wilfahrt of Jackson, Melissa Zimprich of Fairmont, Jennifer (significant other, Sam) Bosshart of Windom and Jacklyn (fiance, Stuart) Bosshart of Mankato; siblings, Rosemary Kasten of Waconia, George (Deb) Bosshart of Nebraska, Kathy (Tom) Jorgenson of Fairmont, Chuck (Sun) Bosshart of Arizona, Barb Martinson of Mankato and Alan Bosshart of Burnsville; grandkids, Victoria, Danielle, Rosie, Johnathan, Joshua, Beth, Alec, Sammuel, Michael, Cori, Logan and Kaitlyn; 6 great-grandkids; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Duane Kasten, Chuck Delaney and Ray Oaks; sister-in-law, Dee Delaney; and grandson, Jacob Bosshart. Butch always lived by the motto,

“Can Do.”
