Berniece L. Milbrandt
FAIRMONT — A memorial service for Berniece L. Milbrandt, age 100, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, 2023, at the United Methodist Church in Fairmont, with inurnment at Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont. Visitation will be prior to the service from 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at the church.
Berniece passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 18, 2023, at Heartland Senior Living in Truman, Minn. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Berniece Luella (Howell) Milbrandt was born July 30, 1922, in Fraser Township, Martin County, Minn., the daughter of Gay and Edith (Welte) Howell. Berniece attended five country schools before graduating from 8th grade at Amber Lake District 21 and later
graduated from Fairmont High School in 1940. After high school, Berniece worked at Woolworth’s Department Store in Fairmont before working for Fairmont National Bank for 11 years. She retired and dedicated herself to being a stay-at-home mom.
On Nov. 3, 1946, Berniece was united in marriage to Leslie Milbrandt at the Fairmont United Methodist Church. The couple was blessed to have spent their entire married life in their home that Berniece’s father built for them on West Belle Vue Road. It was there that they raised and cared for their two children, Julie and Rick. Berniece and Leslie shared sixty two years together before Leslie passed away. During her free time, Berniece was an active member of the United Methodist Church where she was a long-time member. She also
enjoyed tending to her garden, canning and cooking. Berniece most loved the time that she was able to spend with her family.
Left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Julie (Bob) Roettger; son, Rick (Tracey) Milbrandt; grandchildren, Genna (Mike) Peterson, Dustin (Whitney) Mattson, Caleb Roettger and Teddy (Garrett) Kelly; great-grandchildren, Bowyn, Cooper and Maddox Peterson, Rosalynn, Emmaline, Ellis and Georgia Mattson, and Lauren, Grant and Luke Kelly; sisters, Dorothy Malo and Lois Olson; nieces and nephews; many friends; and her family at Heartland Senior Living in Truman for all of their love and care. Along with her parents, Gay and Edith Howell, Berniece was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Milbrandt; son-in-law, Marshall Mattson; sisters, Jane Price and Stella Stade; and brother, Merlyn Howell.
