Robert Allan was born July 6, 1960, to Robert T. and Lorraine (Hoien) Nicoson in Estherville, Iowa. Growing up, he attended school in Armstrong and was a member of the 1978 graduating class. Following his high school graduation, he furthered his education at DMACC and the University of Northern Iowa, where he received his bachelor’s degree. Robert then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge on Feb. 27, 1989.

On Feb. 29, 1996, Robert was united in marriage to Janeen Sothman. This union was blessed with two children, Katharine and Gregory, as well as Janeen’s children, Rebecca and Roy. Robert worked for over twenty years in the IT department for the Mayo Clinic where he served as the IT Director. He was an avid Gopher fan, enjoyed playing golf and listening to the Dave Matthews Band. Robert enjoyed traveling and cherished all time spent with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory include his children, Katie (Mason) Teachout, Gregg Nicoson, Rebecca Finck and Roy (Brenda) Zellmer; grandchildren, Everly and Julia Teachout, Katherine, Isabelle and Olivia Zellmer, and Brody, Gavin, Owen and Aiden Finck; siblings,
