Harriet L. Haglund

FAIRMONT — Funeral services for Harriet L. Haglund, 87, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, 2023, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, Minn., with burial in Harrison Township Cemetery, rural Swea City, Iowa. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont.

Harriet passed away Monday, Aug. 7, 2023, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont, with her devoted nephew with her as she passed from her earthly home. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Harriet Louise (Cook) Haglund was born Dec. 5, 1935, in Rolling Green Township, rural Martin County, Minn., on her grandpa Martin Cook’s farm, the daughter of George W. and Evelyn (Folz) Cook.

Harriet attended country school District 9 in Tenhassen Township and school in Welcome and Truman. She worked for neighbors before moving to Fairmont. Harriet then worked at Milly’s Café, The Corner Café, Jeff’s Bakery and Paramount Ceramics, before retiring in 1988. Harriet was an avid crafter and enjoyed needlework and puzzles. You could also find her in the yard mowing, weeding and puttering with plants.

Harriet married Bernard J. Bosl on Sept. 21, 1957. That marriage ended in divorce in 1964. She married Gordon Lester Haglund on Sept. 1, 1967. Harriet and Gordy attended Fairmont United Methodist Church and were members of the Fairmont Rifle and Pistol Club. They traveled to shooting matches in 5 states. Harriet was active with the Martin County Historical Society. In later years, the couple traveled far and wide searching out family history. Harriet was very interested in genealogy. Gordy passed away on April 5, 2004.

Harriet is survived by her special nephew, Rick DeBoer and wife, Deb and their children, Justin (Angela) DeBoer, Paige and Ty, Travis (Angie) DeBoer, Trace, Clay and Lane, Emily (Bryan) Hansen, Gracin, Elayna and Griffin; aunt, Rose (Chunk) Levik; as well as many other extended family and friends. Harriet was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; infant daughter, Laura Jo Bosl; parents, George and Evelyn Cook; sister and brother-in-law, Arlene DeBoer and Merle DeBoer; brother, David Cook; grandparents, Martin and Emma (Lottmann) Cook, Glen and Clara (Gulden) Folz; and many other extended family. www.lakeviewfuneralhome.net
