Viola Range
FAIRMONT — Viola Range, 95, of Fairmont, Minn., passed peacefully on Monday, July 24, 2023, at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont. Services for Viola will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, 2023, at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fairmont. Burial will follow the service at Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Viola Martha (Eickhoff) Range was born Nov. 30, 1927, in rural Martin County, Minn., the daughter of Charles and Mary (Harder) Eickhoff. She was baptized and later confirmed at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fairmont and received her education attending school at Martin County District 64 county school. On May 24, 1947, Viola was united in marriage to Harvey Carl Range at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fairmont, Minn. Viola and Harvey made their home in Fairmont and welcomed home two children, Gary and Deb.
Viola worked at Madsen’s Super Valu for many years before beginning her employment with Weigh-Tronix Inc. where she worked until her retirement in May 1990.
Viola was an active member of the American Legion and VFW Auxiliary and was a long-time member of St. John’s United Church of Christ where she participated in women’s groups and sang in the church choir. Viola’s childhood and the personality traits of her heritage directed her decisions and path in life. She was always enthusiastic when greeted with new experiences. Viola was a very caring and vibrant person who loved being around others, bringing them joy with her presence.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Gary (Deb) Range and Deb (Don) Whisney; grandchildren, Tina, Jess (Julius), Travis (Jessica) and Di (Chad); great-grandchildren, Cody and Ty; sister, Leona; special friends, Sachaa, Opor, Gonzalo, Neda and Efua; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Her memories will live in their hearts forever.
