Max Allen Meyer was born July 17, 1961, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, son of John and Doris (Bierl) Meyer. Max attended Fairmont parochial and public schools and graduated from Fairmont High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on Sept. 16, 1980, and served in the United States and Germany before earning his honorable discharge on Sept. 15, 1984. Max worked at Railway Motors in Fairmont and later for a hog operation.

During his free time, Max enjoyed carpentry, throwing darts, hunting and doing crossword puzzles. He also loved watching old TV movies as well as watching the Twins and Vikings.

Left to cherish his memory include his parents, John “Jack” Meyer and Doris (Dorie) Meyer; siblings, Vicki (Mike Grundy) Coash Grundy, Cynthia (Mark) Bowell, Jan Abbas, Teresa Meyer and Laurie (Kyrtus) Patterson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Along with his grandparents, Ed and Teresa Bierl, and Victor and Mildred Meyer, Max was preceded in death by his nephew, Benjamin Meyer; and brothers-in-law, Tim Abbas and Jack Coash.
