Mary Alice Rich was born Oct. 8, 1949, to Myron and Jeannie (Phillips) Jahnke in Plankinton, S.D. She graduated from Welcome High School. After graduating, Mary attended nursing school. In 1970, Mary was united in marriage to Marlin Rich in Fairmont. This

marriage was blessed with three children, Tracy, Brett and Jamee.

Mary lived in the Fairmont area most of her life. She then moved to Ormsby, Minn. for many years and then to Comfrey, Minn. for 2 1/2years before moving and buying a home in Truman where she has lived for many years until moving in with her daughter, Jamee, in

2022. Mary worked at the nursing home as a CNA and dietary aide. Then she completed cosmetology school and would do cosmetology on the side while she was working at K-Mart for 8-10 years. Mary enjoyed helping her mother with volunteering at the Salvation Army with various volunteer activities. She also really enjoyed singing, dancing and spending time with her friends and family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Tracy “T.R.” Rich of Blue Springs, Mo., Brett John Rich and his fiancee, Patty Meyer of Truman, Minn. and Jamee Jo Anderson and her husband, Chris of Sherburn, Minn.; grandchildren, Tyler Meyer and his wife,

Teah, Teanna Meyer, Taylor Meyer, Clairissa Walsh, Tanisha Walsh, Eli Walsh, Jackson Rich and Colton Rich; great-grandchildren, Jaxson Meyer and Greyson Meyer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Myron and Jeannie Jahnke; brothers, James Jahnke and Kenny Jahnke; and sisters, Betty Jahnke and Marie England.
