Visitation is 5-7 p.m., July 28, 2023 at Kramer funeral home in Trimont Minn. Meal immediately following the service. A time for celebration of life and memory sharing with family and friends.
Lloyd “Pie” died unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep Saturday, July 15 at his home. God called him home to his family above to watch over his earthly family/friends.
Lloyd “Pie” was born June 26, 1946 in Trimont. His love, laughter, smile, storytelling and time spent with family/friends are memories that will carry us through. Especially to his wife Dianne Olson of 59 years, daughter Laura (Mark) Gowen, son Troy (Kristylin) Olson and his 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He worked hard all of his life. He married the love of his life (Dianne, 18) at age 17. Within the year, daughter Laura was born. A year and a half later, son Troy was born.
Lloyd “Pie” worked as a farmhand, at Welcome Creamery, John Morrels meat packing plant for 10 years and Matthiowetz Construction. He started his business, Olson Excavating. He also started Austin’s Baitshop. He raised many animals throughout his life from beef cattle to pigs to bison.
His interests were fishing, horses, going to livestock auctions, camping, sitting by the lake, watching bonfires, and driving around looking at crops. He was a great storyteller, he enjoyed conversation with anyone. Everyone always left with an earful. He loved grilling and making food for family and friends. No one ever left hungry. All holidays/birthdays were especially important to him, that time was spent with family. Family was what he lived for and they meant the whole world to him. He was a family man. Faith was also just as important to him.
He will be greatly missed by wife Dianne, daughter Laura (Mark), son Troy (Kristylin), 11 grandchildren Elisha, Austin, Martha, Hallie, Hannah, Miah, Max, Hank, Dayton, Gunner, Vivian, and 4 great-grandchildren Aria, Ariel, Keegan, and Lauren. Surviving brother Kenny as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Along with his animal friends.
Lloyd “Pie” was preceded in death by parents Alfred and Martha Olson, in-laws Everett and Ann Rettig, brothers Leonard, Seighfredt, Floyd, Lawerence, two babies at birth, and sisters Mabel, Alcine, and Ceilia drowned age 12.
In Pie’s words- “I need this done right now, meaning yesterday. Now everyone, take this time and spend it with family.” P.S. “A fishing we will go, a fishing we will go, where we stop nobody knows.” Pie, have fun spending time in heaven catching fish.
