Charles N. Walters
FAIRMONT — Memorial Visitation for Charles “Chuck” N. Walters, 75, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 4 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont with military honors provided by Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 and Martin County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1222 at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Chuck passed away Monday, July 24, 2023, at his home in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Charles “Chuck” Nelson Walters was born April 8, 1948, in Port Huron, Mich. On May 12, 1965, Chuck enlisted in the Marines. He served in Vietnam and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. Chuck achieved the rank of Corporal before earning his honorable discharge on December 1, 1968.
On June 29, 1997, Chuck was united in marriage to Carol Olson at Lincoln Park in Fairmont. The couple made their home in Fairmont and shared twenty-six years together before Carol passed away June 12, 2013. During his free time, Chuck enjoyed golfing and camping.
Left to cherish his memory include his children, Monica Peterson, Wayne (Denise) Walters, and Amber Walters; step-children, Stacy Eckmann, Jacob (Bridget) Eckmann, Chad (Torre) Eckmann, and Nicole (Paul) Wempen; grandchildren, Crystal, Katie, Andrew, Melinda, Tony, Robert, Jordan, Allyson, Connor, Kaytlin, Madison, Charlotte, KayLynn, Austin, Alisa, and Matthew; 26 great grandchildren; siblings, Kurt Samuelson, Louise (Sue) Kesselring, and Richard (Linda) McMann;
Along with his parents, Royola and Ralph McMann, Chuck was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Walters; daughter, Melinda Walters; grandson, Cody Dollen; siblings, Edith, Lyle, Alex, Dawn, and Gail; sister-in-law, Betty Moeller; and father-in-law, LeRoy Olson.
