FAIRMONT — Graveside services for Geraldine Hendricks, 91, of Welcome, Minn., will be 1 p.m., Friday, July 21, 2023, at Welcome City Cemetery in Welcome, Minn. Geraldine passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington, Minn. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Geraldine F. (Plumhoff) Hendricks was born September 17, 1931, in Ceylon, Minn., the daughter of Art and Lyla (Eickhoff) Plumhoff. She received her education attending school at Ceylon Public School.
On January 2, 1949, Geraldine was united in marriage to George Arnold Hendricks in Ceylon, Minn. Geraldine and George made their home on the family farm near Welcome and cherished the opportunity to spend their lives together working on the farm raising cattle and grain. They were blessed with two sons, Rodney and Steven and celebrated sixty-seven years of marriage prior to George’s passing in 2016.
Geraldine loved life on the farm and was not afraid of the daily challenges that came from living in the country. Well into her 80’s, you could find Geraldine in the field working the ground out in front of her son’s as they planted the year’s crop or riding along as they fed or worked cattle. She was an active member of the Welcome American Legion Auxiliary and treasured the many friendships she gained through years. Once the farm work for the day was completed, Geraldine looked forward to hitting the links at Fox Lake Golf Club enjoying the sunshine and warm summer day with friends. Geraldine also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and attending sporting events.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Rodney Hendricks and Steven Hendricks; Mary Hendricks, mother of grandchildren, William Hendricks and his fiancé, Vanessa Vanderborght, and Cindy (Jay) Henry; great grandchildren, Tyler Henricks, Skyler Raymond, Nathan Henry, Mady Hendricks, Kaylen Hendricks, Megan Henry and Mara Shasiel; sister, Charlotte (John) Schmidtke; sister-in-law, Helen (Lowell) Fisher; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Lyla Plumhoff; three sisters, June Wiltze, Elaine Speckmann and Shirley Thompson; and two brothers, Merle Plumhoff and Marlin Plumhoff.
