Natividad E. Reyes III

WELCOME — A memorial Mass for Natividad E. Reyes III, 67, of Welcome, Minn., will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday, June 19, 2023, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Natividad passed away Sunday, June 11, 2023, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato, Minn. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Natividad E. Reyes III was born March 21, 1956, in Dalhart, Texas, the son of Natividad E. Reyes II and Wenceslada Ybarra. Natividad was raised and attended school in the Lubbock, Texas area.

Natividad worked as a roofer while living in Texas and spent many hot summers replacing and repairing roofs. In 1991, he and his family moved to Madelia where he worked for Tony Downs Foods and following a move to Fairmont in 1992, he began working for Fairmont Foods. Natividad also had a passion for farming and helped many area farmers throughout the years. Later in life, he also pursued a career in auto mechanics when he attended and graduated from Jackson VoTech with a degree in auto mechanics.

Natividad loved to tinker and build things. e was very mechanically inclined and could often be found working on a car or fixing a bike for one of his children or grandchildren and then joining them on a bike ride when it was fixed. Natividad was famous for his homemade “motorcycle bike” that he built, and neighbors clamored over his lowrider bicycles. He looked forward to trips to the casino and was willing to place a bet on anything, even when rolling dice against his children and grandchildren. Natividad was a great poker player and enjoyed playing bingo. He loved warm summer days spent fishing or mowing the lawn. In his youth, Natividad was a golden glove boxer in the West Amarillo, Texas area. Natividad was a great friend who would do anything for those in need and treasured spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Crispin (Blanca) Reyes, Adrian Reyes, Alejandro Reyes, Angelica (Luis) Reyes, Gabby Talamantes and Shelby Camero; grandchildren, Angel Reyes, Pricila Reyes, Rubi Reyes, Francisio Reyes, Mya Reyes, Lacey Hackett, Jade Reyes, Kya Reyes, Leah Reyes, Serenity Cordova, Juno Sell, Aliah Junita Camero and Abel Juan Camero; great-grandchildren, Journey Davis and Banskleigh Reyes; siblings, Francis Garces, Irma Chavez, Flora Lara, Blanca Reyes, Lydia Carrasco, Alfelia Kalipo, Sally Reyes and Ellkaido Reyes; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Natividad was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Ruben Reyes, Paul Reyes, and Oscar Lara.
