Loyal Koenck

INDIANOLA, Iowa — Loyal Koenck, 84 years and 11 months, of Indianola, Iowa, passed away peacefully April 28, 2021, at the VA Community Living Center in Des Moines, Iowa, with family at his side. Due to the Covid pandemic and and the subsequent donation of his body to science, a graveside service for family and friends will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 17, at Elm Creek Cemetary, south of Trimont, Minn. Fellowship and refreshments will follow the service at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn, Minn.

Loyal Franklin Koenck was born May 15, 1936, in Emmet County, Iowa, to Emil and Marie (Wiese) Koenck. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1957 and spent most of his time in Berlin, Germany, and was honorably discharged.

Survivors include: his wife, Carolyn “Susie”; his children, Kim Cobb, Kari Dougherty, Kurtis Koenck and Kolleen Johnson; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Kay Steinberg; brothers, Robert, David Koenck and Larry Koenck; brothers-in-law, Keith, Dennis, Irvin, Paul and Joel Weber; sisters-in-law, Ivadelle Erickson; other relatives and friends.
