Craig A. Bonstead

BELTON, Texas — Chief Warrant Officer 4 (Ret.) Craig A. Bonstead, 66, of Belton, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at his home in Belton, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Dossman Funeral Home. Burial will

follow at the North Belton Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 26, at the funeral home.

Mr. Bonstead was born Dec. 13, 1956, in Fairmont, Minn., the son of Leonard and Edythe (Baarts) Bonstead. Craig was a 1975 graduate of Fairmont High School. He served his country as an AH-1 Cobra and UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter maintenance test pilot in the U.S. Army for 21 years. He was a graduate of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. After retiring from the Army he managed the Temple branch of RSC Equipment Rental Company before driving a bus for B. I. S. D. Mr. Bonstead married Pamela Jergens on June 25, 1983, at the First Baptist Church in Belton. He was a member of Temple Bible Church where he served as a deacon. He also enjoyed volunteering with the Belton Police Dept. CHIPS unit and Hope Pregnancy Center.

Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Pamela Bonstead of Belton; two sons, Chad Bonstead and wife, Brooke of San Antonio and Eric Bonstead and wife, Bonnie of Belton; one brother, Randy Bonstead and wife, Luanne of Bennett, Colo.; mother-in-law, Barbara Jergens; a niece, nephews; sister-in-law, Paula Fredericksen; and grandchildren, Adelaide, William, Henry, Timothy, Luke, Claire and Lilly.
