Roger M. Lindell

ARMSTRONG — A funeral service for Roger M. Lindell, 84, of Armstrong, Iowa, will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2023, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fairmont, Minn. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont, with military honors provided by the Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 and Martin County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1222. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 25, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.

Roger passed away Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont. Memorials are preferred to the Martin County Fair Foundation or First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Roger Melvin Lindell was born July 1, 1938, to Iver and Meta (Prust) Lindell in Fairmont, Minn. He graduated from Armstrong High School in 1955 and then attended Morningside College and Iowa Lakes Community College. Roger served in the U.S. Army as a SPC 4 from 1958 to 1960. In 1960, Roger was united in marriage to Wanda Holl. This marriage was blessed with one son, Brian. They were later divorced. On Jan. 24, 1982, Roger was united in marriage to Marabelle Celander. Roger and Marabelle made their home on a farm near Armstrong, Iowa. Roger farmed for many years and was still driving the combine last fall. Roger was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fairmont where he served as an usher. He loved helping around the farm wherever he was needed. Roger enjoyed visiting the casinos, going out for coffee and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Brian (Michelle) Lindell; stepdaughter, Cynthia Celander; stepson, Robbin (Cathy) Celander; special friend, Jacque Hinz; grandchildren, Amanda (David) Carter, Alicia (David) Debusca, Abby (Tim) Miller,

Jacob (Abby) Shoen, David (Rebecca) Lindell, Dylan (Chelsea) Celander and Michelle (Daren) Griffen; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Donna Johnson; brother, Allen Lindell; brother-in-law, Arlo (Judy) Raatz; many nieces, nephews and other extended family. He was

preceded in death by his parents, Iver and Meta Lindell; wife, Marabelle Lindell;

stepdaughter, Kimberly Shoen; brothers, Lester Lindell, Lyle (Joy) Lindell, Jim Lindell; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gloria Lindell, Arlo (Violet) Bretzman and Shirley Raatz.
