Joyce Ann Schultze

FAIRMONT — Funeral services for Joyce Ann Schultze, 70, of Richfield, Minn., formerly of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2023, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert, Minn. Burial will follow the service in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Wilbert. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2023, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

Joyce passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023, at her sister’s home in Richfield, Minn., after a two-year battle with breast cancer. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Joyce Ann Schultze was born Feb. 19, 1953, in Fairmont, Minn., the daughter of Welmer and Adela (Beckendorf) Schultze. She was baptized on March 8, 1953, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert, Minn. and later confirmed on May 14, 1967. She began her education attending parochial school at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church School in Wilbert through eighth grade. She then attended Ceylon High School, graduating with the class of 1971. Following her high school graduation, Joyce moved to Minneapolis where she worked for many years as a secretary at The Center for Behavior Therapy. In 1998, Joyce moved back to the Wilbert area to take care of her parents. Joyce loved to travel and was blessed to have the opportunity to visit numerous places around the world. Joyce back-packed Europe at the age of 24 with her sister June and was able to visit Australia three times. She especially enjoyed the trips she took with her sister and her nieces.

Those left to cherish her memory include her siblings, Jean (Allen) Read of Wahkon, Minn., Robert Schultze and special friend, Lois True of Mankato, Minn., James (LaDonna) Schultze of Kasson, Minn., June (Thomas) Russell of Richfield, Minn., Alan (Dallas) Schultze of Eagle Lake, Minn.; nephews, Aaron Schultze and Brett Schultze; nieces, Amanda (Josh) Fjerstad, Rachel (Scott) Haagensen, Ashley (James Bryant) Schultze, Leslie Schultze and Michelle Schultze; step-nephew and niece, David Read and Stacy (Dan) Floodman; her great- nieces and nephews, other extended family and friends. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Welmer and Adela Schultze; and an infant brother. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert, Minn.
