Marcia C. Leverson

FAIRMONT — Private family services for Marcia C. Leverson, 91, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, Minn. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date at St. Luke’s Catholic Cemetery, Sherburn, Minn. Friends and family are invited to a visitation and luncheon celebrating Marcia’s life from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Lakeview Funeral Home.

Marcia passed away peacefully Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Praha Village in New Prague, Minn. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Marcia Carolyn (Kerns) Leverson was born Oct. 29, 1931, in Fairmont, Minn., to Katie (Krumholz) Kerns and Lynn Kerns. She received her education in Fairmont at St. Paul’s Catholic Grade School and Fairmont High School, graduating in 1949. She furthered her education at St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Rochester, receiving her RN degree in 1952. Marcia was united in marriage to Harold (Rusty) Leverson on May 8, 1954. They were blessed with 10 children, Ann, Susan, Laura, Carolyn (Tina), Ellen, Mark, Michael, Paul, Eric, and Sara. They lived on the family farm until Rusty retired, and moved to Fairmont in 2006. Marcia worked for years in the medical field that she loved, including obstetrics and various other departments of the Fairmont Hospital until 1976. She then went to work at Friendship Haven in Sherburn for eight years, supervising and training personnel in the medical sector. Further employment included managing offices for Prairie Land Home Care in Fairmont and Blue Earth, and Shamrock Home Care in Burnsville and St. Cloud. She was also employed with daughter, Susie’s, medical transcription business. Marcia also loved and avidly followed all of their children’s sports and musical activities. She enjoyed Big Band music, singing, and dancing. Rusty passed away in 2014. In 2019, Marcia moved to Praha Village in New Prague, Minn. to be closer to many of her family. Marcia is survived by nine of her 10 children: Ann (Tom) Whalen, Susan (Kent) Anderson, Carolyn “Tina” Hilgendorf (Mark Annexstad), Ellen (Eric) Larson, Mark (Lisa) Leverson, Michael (Jacqueline) Leverson, Paul (Karen) Leverson, Eric (Nancy) Leverson and Sara (Brian) Picka; her 26 grandchildren: Matt (Megan) Whalen, Sara (Neil) Holmquist, and Jessica (Trey) Lachicotte; Erin (Ryan) Sly, Anthony (Claire) Gillan-Anderson, and Adam (Melinda) Anderson; Nicholas (Aly) Larson, Lucas (Taylor) Larson, and Kristen Larson (Pete Simpkins); Casey (Kati) Ellis, Amber (Jim) Granacker, Samuel Leverson, and Hannah Leverson; Matthew Leverson; Brianna (Andrew) Schilling, Connor Leverson, Keenan Leverson, Gannan (Audra) Leverson, and Aunnah Leverson; Aaron (Bonnie) Fortwengler, Alexandra (Jason) Perez, Presley (Jake) Hoffman, and Serena (John) Slatinsky; and Thomas, Elisabeth and Lauren Picka; her 31 great-grandchildren: Carson, Cooper, and Brecken; Adilynn, Amelia, Lacy, and Emily; Alexander, William, and Lauryn; Evan, Claire, Gavin, and Charlotte; Vera and Mae; Evelyn and Hazel; Charles; Haley, Riley, James, and Abi; and Kaden, Bryn, Silas, Sloane, Greta, August, Brielle, and Chloe. She is also survived by siblings, Mary Kenworthy, Jerry (Mary) Kerns, Mickey Theobald, Dan (Bev) Kerns, Luella Leverson (sister-in-law), other relatives and friends. Marcia was preceded in death by her husband, Rusty Leverson; infant daughter, Laura Jean Leverson; infant granddaughter, MacKenzie Leverson; son-in-law, Barry Hilgendorf; parents, Lynn and Katie Kerns; father- and mother-in-law, Samuel and Thora Leverson; sisters, Betty Thate and Barbara Meyer; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Thate, “Bud” Kenworthy, “Swede” Theobald, Vernon Leverson, Ivan Wingert, Orville Leverson, Kenneth Leverson; and sisters-in-law, Lucille Wingert, Leone Leverson and Alice Leverson.
