Ardis Koenecke

RICE LAKE, Wis. — Ardis Marie (Beckdendorf) Koenecke, 90, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 30, 2023, at Dove Healthcare in Rice Lake, Wis. A funeral service will be held 12:30 p.m. on May 13, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fairmont. There will be a visitation prior to the service at 11 a.m. at the church, followed by a reception of food, beverage, and remembrance in the church basement.

Ardis was born Dec. 31, 1932, on the family farm near Ceylon, Minn., to Gustav and Dorothy (Laue) Beckendorf. On Feb. 2, 1960, Ardis was united in marriage to Kenneth William “Bill” Koenecke in Ceylon, Minn. She thoroughly enjoyed 62 years living in the house that she and Bill built on Interlaken Golf Course where she spent many a sunny day chatting with her many friends that were passing through playing a round. After graduating from high school, she worked at banks in Fairmont and Ceylon. Bill and Ardis spent many summers traveling throughout the country. They particularly liked the west and spent many vacations traveling from state to state exploring the Rocky Mountains. Ardis was an avid bowler and bowled for many years in league bowling where she amassed a large collection of trophies. She had a green thumb and worked at Fairmont Flowers for over 25 years, where she used her good taste and expertise to help countless couples select prom and wedding flowers. Ardis is survived by daughter, Lisa (Drew) Hansen of Lakeville, Minn.; son, Mark (Kari) Koenecke of Cameron, Wis.; grandchildren, Daniel Hansen of Chicago, Ill., Andrew Hansen of Lakeville, Minn., Joe Koenecke and Josh Koenecke, both from La Crosse, Wis.; brothers, Donald (Fran) Beckendorf of Blue Earth, Minn., Kenneth (Gala) Beckendorf of Nicollet, Minn. and Dennis

(Ruth Ann) Beckendorf of Fairmont, Minn.; as well as her beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. The family would like to extend their extreme thanks and gratitude to the staff at Woodland Manor/Lakeview Medical Center in Fairmont and Dove HealthCare of Rice Lake, who all took amazing care of Ardie over the past several years. Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, Wis. is assisting the family with the arrangements.
