Ruth M. Pavich
SHERBURN– Mass of Christian Burial for Ruth M. Pavich, 85, of Sherburn, Minn., will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 14, 2023 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn with burial in Lakeview Cemetery in Coleraine, Minnesota at a later date.
Ruth was called to her eternal rest on Tuesday morning, April 11, 2023 at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the Church on Friday. Messages of Sympathy may be sent to the family online at www.kramerfuneralhome.com
Ruth Mae Janssen was born July 22, 1938, the daughter of Herman and Mary (Stedman) Janssen. Ruth Mae was born on Grandpa Theodore Janssen’s farm west of Monterey, Minnesota. In 1941, Ruth’s parents moved to Nimrod, Minn., where they lived on a farm until 1951. They moved to the Iron Range in Northern Minnesota so Herman could work in the iron mines. Ruth graduated from Greenway High School, Coleraine, Minn. in 1956.
On April 25, 1959, Ruth married Robert Pavich. They lived on a hobby farm South of Calumet until 2001. In September of 2001, they moved to Sherburn, Minn., to be close to their son, Steven Pavich and his family and Ruth’s parents, Mary and Paul Groskruetz and her sisters, Judith Nielson, Linda Hoppe, Penny Claussen and Sharon Moeller.
Ruth was a member and treasurer of Greenway Snowmobile Club and officer of Wonder Workers Home Extension Club. She was also active as Cub Scout Leader, South Ranger 4-H leader for many years, and a member of St. Mary’s Church in Marble, Minn. and St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn.
Ruth crocheted and sewed lap robes and pillows for nursing homes. She also made baby sweater sets for friends and the church mission. Ruth spent much time snowmobiling with her husband and friends in her youth and loved being outdoors fishing, deer hunting, camping and gardening. One of her favorite camping trips was made in 2001, when they traveled to Alaska through Canada with friends, Bud and Marilyn Greenley.
Ruth and her husband set up auctions for 10 years for Rhinehardt Auction Service of Palisade, Minn., and attended many auctions throughout the years.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Deborah Ann Pavich of Littleton, NC and Steven Robert Pavich and his wife, Michelle of Ceylon, MN; grandchildren, Nicholas Pavich, Justin Pavich, Caleb Pavich and Jenna (Brady) Wall; sisters, Wendy Beaulieu and her husband, Dennis of Babbitt, MN, Penny Claussen and her husband, Tom of Sherburn, MN, and Sharon Moeller and her husband, Doyle of Dunnell, MN; two brothers-in-law, Dennis Hoppe of Ceylon, MN, Peter Pavich and wife, D. Ruth of Hibbing, MN; sister-in-law, Fran Pavich of Bovey, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Emil Pavich, infant daughter, Kathryn
Mary; son, David Walter; parents, Herman and Mary (Stedman) Janssen-Groskruetz; sisters, Linda Hoppe and Judith Nielsen’ in-laws, Mike and Anna (Yavor) Pavich; step father, Paul Groskreutz; brother’s-in-law, Nich Pavich, Jack Pavich, Bill Pavich and sisters-in-law, Virginia Beer and Darlene Pavich.
