Brent Walker officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday, April 10, at Patton Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home.

LuAnn Kay was born Sept. 28, 1949, to Berner and Lauretta (Thompson) Hanevik in Albert Lea, Minn. She grew up and graduated from Frost High School. After high school she attended one year at Rochester Community College before meeting and marrying the love of her life, William "Ross" Kempf, on May 29, 1969. The couple met while working at Telex and only dated for 3 months before Ross popped the question with a box of Cracker Jacks and the rest is history. They enjoyed taking trips to his hometown of St. Louis, riding motorcycles and snowmobiles and the occasional trip to Vegas or local casinos. LuAnn worked at and managed the local dental office for over 40 years, she also taught gun safety for over 35 years. She enjoyed shooting guns, jumping out of perfectly good airplanes and her Golden Retrievers. When relaxing at home, you would find her on the computer or baking her famous caramels and peanut brittle. She was a strong willed and determined woman but also a giver who left an impression on everyone she met, especially her nieces and nephews who she had a very special bond with.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Ross of Blue Earth; sisters, Wanda (Roger) Samdal of Windom and Paulette Larson of Blue Earth; honorary urn bearers, Gary Larson of Montrose, Minn., Todd Hanevik of Blue Earth and Brad Samdal of Windom, Minn.; sisters-in-law, Pat Hanevik and Kay Hanevik; as well as many other near and dear nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Doug Hanevik and Ronnie Hanevik; and great-niece, Emory Larson. www.pattonfh.com
