BLUE EARTH -- Kenneth "Ken" LeRoy Mastin, age 87, of Blue Earth, Minn., passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at his home, surrounded by family. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 14, 2023, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with Rev. David Schultz officiating. A time for visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 13, at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth, and one hour prior to the service on April 14, at the church. Private family burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth.
Ken was born Sept. 14, 1935, in Buffalo Center, Iowa, to James and Esther (Bosma) Mastin. He attended and graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1954. On July 13, 1958, Ken was united in marriage to Iona Humburg at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. Ken held several jobs over the years and was always busy, but his love for farming and agriculture was unmatched. Ken was active in the historical society and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. Ken enjoyed woodworking and weaving rugs. Ken always referred to his hobbies as being in the garage “making sawdust.” He was always busy working on one project or another. Even in retirement, he kept busy working several different jobs, along with his many hobbies. Ken loved going on fishing trips up north. He was a gentle man and loved his family dearly. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Iona; children, Greg (Kimberly) Mastin of Blue Earth, Vicki (Mark) Miller of Sioux Falls, S.D., Galen (Deb) Mastin of Eagle Lake, Gary (Lori) Mastin of Kasson, Kevin Mastin of Fairmont; brother, Roger (Julene) Mastin; sisters, Sharon Lewis, Janice (Elgene) Darnell, and Judy (Al) Albrecht; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; many more friends and family.
