TRACY -- Deb Chukuske lost her quick, yet courageous fight with cancer on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, surrounded by her family. A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Debra "Deb" Chukuske was born Dec. 14, 1957, to Burdean and Dorothy "Dodie" Hartwig. She attended Welcome High School where she met the love of her life, William "Bill" Chukuske. They were married on April 14, 1979. Together they had three children: Sarah, Ryan and Megan. Deb loved to spend time with family and friends especially if it involved vacations or time by the pool. She had many hobbies and joys in life: playing Yahtzee, crafting, reading, playing Candy Crush, going for walks, and gardening. She even had a tradition of dancing "Down, Down Baby" with her Hartwig nieces and nephews at any family gathering. Deb also enjoyed watching the Vikings and Twins games. She would become very animated during the Vikings games and loved bantering with her son as he is an avid Packers fan. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. Anyone who met Deb instantly knew she loved her family and had a caring heart. She is so loved and will be missed by all those who have had the pleasure to spend time with her. Deb is survived by her husband, Bill; daughter, Sarah (Scott) Klimek; son, Ryan (Megan) Chukuske; daughter, Megan (Tim) Swanson; nine grandchildren: Brett Gerrard, Jada Swanson, Ian Her, Dominic Swanson, Brianna Swanson, Keely Klimek, Chloe Her, Bryson Klimek and Cian Chukuske; father, Burdean Hartwig; sister, Donna (Craig) Webb; brother, Brian (Deb) Hartwig; brother, Bruce (Tammy) Hartwig; sister-in-law, Tammy Williams; sister-in-law, Cindy (Wayne) Boler; brother-in-law, Jamie Chukuske; many nieces, nephews and extended family. Deb was preceded in death by her mother, Dodie Hartwig; mother-in-law, Carol Chukuske; brother-in-law, Danny Williams; and sister-in-law, Monica Chukuske. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Prairie Home Hospice & Community Care, 1108 East College Drive, Marshall, MN 56528.
