GRANADA -- Services for Donald C. Neuenfeldt, 82, of Granada, Minn., will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont. A private family burial will be held at a later date in St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery near Northrop, Minn. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2023, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
Donald earned his angel wings on Monday, Feb. 27, 2023, at his home in Granada, Minn., with his wife at his side. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Donald Carl Neuenfeldt was born April 20, 1940, in Lewisville, Minn., the fourth son born to Carl and Marie (Klien) Neuenfeldt. At a young age, he and his family moved to Northrop where he attended St. James Lutheran elementary and later Fairmont High School where he excelled in baseball and football. After graduation he began work at Johnny's Plumbing and Heating in Fairmont for 20+ years. He then worked at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center as maintenance director for another 20 years. Deciding it was time to retire, he began work at Rose Lake Golf Course on the mowing crew. Don took great pride at all of his jobs and expected nothing less than perfection from himself. Don was married in 1960, and had two children, Jay and Kim. On Jan. 31, 1986, he married Cindy Martin and welcomed her son, Joe Frerichs, into his family. Don and Cindy spent their time continually working to improve their acreage by Granada. He enjoyed gardening as well as hunting, fishing, baseball, and fast pitch softball. Don is survived by his wife of 37 years, Cindy; son, Joe Frerichs (Lindsay), and grandchildren Johnnie, Layla, and William. He is also survived by his daughter, Kim (Joseph) Kreiss and son, Jay Neuenfeldt; sisters, Elaine Rischmiller, Karen Hultquist, Eileen (Ron) Hough; mother-in-law, Gloria Martin; sister-in-law, Carol Neuenfeldt; brother-in-law, Randy Martin (Alice); and sister-in-law, Mindy Holmen (Chris); as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard, Leonard, and Lorin; father-in-law, Ronald Martin; and in-laws, Monica Chukuske, Darwin Rischmiller, Evie Neuenfeldt and Ed Hultquist. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or Immanuel Lutheran Church of Fairmont.
