FAIRMONT -- Mass of Christian Burial for Sharon "Sam" G. Oberman, age 79, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont, with interment in Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.
Sam passed away Friday afternoon, Feb. 3, 2023, at the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Sharon (Glynn) Oberman was born Jan. 29, 1944, to Joseph and Lucille (Gallagher) Glynn in Waseca, Minn., the youngest of 10 children. She attended elementary school in Vernon Center, Minn., and graduated from Bethlehem Academy High School in Faribault,
Minn., with the class of 1962, where she was a boarder at the
academy. Sharon then entered St. Anthony Hospital School in Oklahoma for radiology and graduated and passed her boards in 1965. Sharon married Dean Eckelberry and lived in Catlett, Va., and Greece before returning to Fairmont. Sharon worked in the field of
radiology for 32 years. She spent 17 of those years at United Hospital in Blue Earth, Minn., where she was the Radiology Director. After retiring from the medical field, Sharon worked for Farmland, later called Smithfield, for 10 years. In 1980, Sharon's husband, T.J. Oberman, was killed in a semi-truck accident in Utah. Sharon enjoyed fishing, boating, and snowmobiling with her best friend and great companion of 42 years, Jerome Kampert. Together they raised Sharon's daughters and were proud of their endeavors. Her greatest joy was spending time with her daughters and 7 of the greatest grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time with the grandkids in the summer at the cabin on Lake Minnawawa. Sharon traveled to Turkey, Italy, and England. While working for Farmland, she went to school in the Netherlands and toured Belgium. She and her sister, Liana, toured Nova Scotia for three weeks as well as living in Greece for three years.
Sharon is survived by her faithful companion, Jerome Kampert; daughters, Adonica Ann (Larry) Siegler, and Hannah Joe (Cody) Borchardt; 7 grandchildren, Maggie (Jordan)
Breitbarth, Halle Siegler, Madelon Ziemer (John Williams), Sadee (Dawson) Becker, Emma Ziemer, Cole Ziemer (Kaylyn Meyers), and Maeson Olson; great-grandchildren, Annica Satoff, Hunter Breitbarth, and Adylyn and Jacelyn Williams; sisters, Elizabeth Kanz of Lewiston, Minn., and Sr. Liana Glynn of Sinsinawa, Wis.; brother, Marty Glynn of Grand Forks, N.D.; and sisters-in-law, Barb Glynn of Vernon Center, Minn., and Dottie Glynn of Casper, Wyo.; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Along with her parents, Joseph and
Lucille Glynn, Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, T.J. Oberman; brothers, John, Gilbert, Robert, and Ronald; sisters, Joan Fleshman, and Peggy Glynn; and very special friends, Bill and Lilly Kampert. The family would like to thank the staff at Lakeview
