Paul Leroy Weseman

SHERBURN -- Paul Leroy Weseman, 86, of Sherburn, Minn., passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023, at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont. A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date. Memorials are preferred to Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center building fund. He donated his body to Mayo Medical School in Rochester, Minn.

Paul was born March 18, 1936, the only child of Pleasant Henry and Nedra (Munson) Weseman, on the family farm in rural Alpha, Minn., where he lived until he retired and moved to Sherburn. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dunnell, Minn. Paul attended school in rural Alpha and graduated from Sherburn High School with the class of 1954. He served in the Minnesota national Guard from 1958-1963, which took him to California and Missouri.

Paul met Jane Clemmensen while roller-skating at the Sherburn Community Center and they were married on June 4, 1959, (a week after Jane graduated high school) in Trimont, Minn. They made their home in Alpha, where he farmed for many years. They were blessed with two children, Paula and John, and a foster-daughter, Pam. Paul was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Sherburn, and was a firefighter in Alpha for over 25 years. In his later years, he could be found bringing lunch and coffee to the farmers, driving them from field to field, or rocking his great-grand babies to sleep. Paul was a very kind, patient man who was always willing to give a helping hand. He will be missed by all. Paul loved Jesus, dogs, and going to breakfast. For the last 12 years, his greatest joy was being "Old Grandpa" to Lila, Ava, Maxen and Sutton.

Left to cherish Paul's memory are his wife of 63 years, Jane of Sherburn, Minn.; children, Paula Theisen of Golden Valley, Minn., John (Dawn) Weseman of Alpha, and foster-daughter, Pam Wester of New Ulm; grandchildren, Leticia Dorschner and her children, Lila and Maxen; Brittany (James) Lutz and children, Ava and Sutton; Steve Theisen, Sarah Theisen, and Jayne (J.R.) Weseman; in-laws, Joan Bettin, Larry "Duke" (Lu) Clemmensen, and Lloyd "Sam" (Barb) Clemmensen; Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Pleasant Henry and Nedra; in-laws, Andrew and Grace Clemmensen; sister-in-law, Jean Clemmensen; brother-in-law, Eldon Bettin; nephews, Brad Clemmensen, Joe Bettin; and many beloved dogs.
