TRIMONT -- A celebration of life service for Roger V. Meyer, 79, of Ramsey, Minn., formerly of Ham Lake, Sherburn and Trimont, Minn., will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont, Minn., with military honors by Foster-Bernhardt American Legion Post 373 of Trimont at the church. Burial will be in Elm Creek Cemetery, rural Trimont, Minn.

Roger Vernon Meyer was born July 22, 1943, to Fred and Alice (Rettke) Meyer in Fairmont, Minn. He received his education in Trimont where he graduated with the class of 1961. Roger then worked for a tree removal service in the area until entering the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict, serving in France. Roger was employed by Hogeman's in Fairmont and traveled with them to various areas for employment. He then started his career with Railway Motors in Fairmont in the office and later worked for Harsco until his retirement where he lived in Sherburn, Minn. On June 28, 2003, he was united in marriage to Janet "Gray" Hoekman at First Lutheran Church in Trimont, Minn. After their marriage, they lived in Ham Lake, Minn. until moving to Ramsey, Minn. Roger was a member of Foster-Bernhardt American Legion Post 357 of Trimont and served on its firing squad.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Meyer of Ramsey, Minn.; son, Charles (Linda) Hoekman of Ramsey, Minn., and their children, Hannah, Emma, John; daughter, Kamla (Curt) Jacobson of Chaska, Minn., and their children, Simon, Gus and Penelope; brother, Keith Meyer of Trimont, Minn., and his children, AleaSha Meyer, Christopher Meyer and Stephanie Truesdell; sister-in-law, Becky Meyer of Grand Blanc, Mich., and her two daughters, Heather Meyer and Melanie Meyer; brothers-in-law, Jerry (Alice) Gray of Trimont, Minn., and Jim (Kristine) Gray of Westboro, Wis.; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Waiting in Heaven for Roger are his parents, Fred and Alice Meyer; brothers, Gary Meyer and Lowell Meyer; sister-in-law, LeaAnn Meyer; uncles, Vernon Rettke, and Laurence (Eleanor) Buckholz; father and mother-in-law, Albert and Ruth Gray; nephew, John Gray; and other relatives.
