Robert ‘Bob’ Gallagher

FAIRMONT — Robert “Bob” Gallagher passed away Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, at the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont, at the age of 99. A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorials are preferred to Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center

Foundation or St. John Vianney School Endowment Fund. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Bob was born March 6, 1923, to George and Mary (Marso) Gallagher in Waseca, Minn. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Waseca and from the Minnesota School of Business in Mankato. Bob was recruited from the School of Business to the Fairmont National Bank in Fairmont where he worked before going to the accounting department at Fairmont Railway Motors. Later Bob went to work at the Mallon Egg Company, a business that he eventually owned, selling that business, and retiring in 1983. In his retirement, he

enjoyed and was very successful selling real estate for Cavers Realty. While working at Fairmont National Bank, Bob met Truma Monk and they married on April 16, 1945. To this marriage two sons were born: Tom and Kelly. Truma passed away in 1978 and on May 5,

1979, Bob married Odetta Rixmann, becoming stepfather to Bruce, Renae and Craig Rixmann. Bob was an officer in the Fairmont Jaycees, a Fairmont City Councilman, officer of Interlaken Golf Club and a past president of the Minnesota Poultry and Egg Council. He

also enjoyed performing in several musical productions of the Civic Summer Theatre and also a Barber Shop Quartet. Bob is survived by his wife, Odetta; sons, Tom (Susan) Gallagher and Kelly (Sally) Gallagher and stepson, Craig (Dawn) Rixmann; grandchildren,

Gretchen (Ed) Gallagher Weinstein, Sarah (Ty) Totzke, Ryan (Meghan) Gallagher, Megan Gallagher and stepgrandchild, Sherri (Jon) Hamre; several great-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren and step great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Fowler and Irene

Nicolin; several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Truma; brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Mary Ann Rosol; brother, Raymond; sister, Margaret; stepdaughter, Renae; and stepson, Bruce. www.lakeviewfuneralhome.net
