Darlain L. Anacker

FAIRMONT — Services for Darlain L. Anacker, 91, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2023, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont, with a committal service at Lakeside Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont.

Darlain passed away Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Darlain LaVonne (Becker) Anacker was born May 23, 1931, at her home near Truman, Minn., the daughter of Erich O. and Joy A. (Richardson) Becker. Darlain attended grade school in rural Truman before attending Truman High School where she graduated with the class of 1949. On Aug. 18, 1951, Darlain was united in marriage to Walter Anacker at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Antrim Township, rural Truman. The couple made their home on a farm near Mt. Lake before moving to Fairmont in 1955. Darlain worked for the Sweet Shop and several other jobs including 3M before retiring. In 1987, Darlain and Walter made the move to Grand Marais, Minn., and returned to Fairmont in 2000, to be closer to family. Darlain was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont where she found great joy in volunteering her time to causes she found important. She was passionate about sewing and in her later years taught Walter how to quilt and together the couple made quilts for all the members of her family. Darlain was a great cook and during the holiday season, her family loved to visit and enjoyed her wonderful cooking and baking. Family was extremely important to Darlain. She was the kind of mom that kids always remembered for being caring and considerate and Darlain loved to make everyone feel special. Left to cherish her memory are her children: sons, Rodney Anacker of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Douglas Anacker of Worthing, S.D.; daughters, Patricia Meyenburg and husband, Bob, of Belle Plaine, Minn., Tondi Sorenson and fiance, Steve Welgraven of Sioux Falls, S.D., Janell Veaderko and husband, Jim of Mound, Minn.; grandchildren, Amy Durst (Darren), Erich Meyenburg (Sarah), Nigel Sorenson, Jeremy Anacker (Susan), Joshua Anacker (Julie); great-grandchildren, Derek (Kristen) Durst, Abygail (Matthew) Roepke, Darlain (Elijah) Morris, Kaylie Sorenson, Danielle Durst (fiance, Orrin Gessner), Jackson Anacker, Reagan Meyenburg, Lauren Anacker, Broden Anacker, Blake Anacker, and Norah Anacker; great-great-grandchildren, Piper Roepke, Tobias Morris, and Roepke baby due July 23; brother-in-law, Kenneth Anacker (Janyce); special cousins, Arlan and Sharon Reiter; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Darlain was preceded in death by her parents; her parents-in-law; husband of 66 years, Walter; two sons, Michael and Bradley Anacker; brothers, Everett Becker and Darrel Becker; sisters, ErlaMae Schenk and Kathleen Wells; sisters-in-law, Mabel Regehr, Gladys Stahl, LuVerne Siefkes, Betty Siefkes, and Evelyn Lingbeek; and brothers-in-law, Leonard Anacker, Herman Larson and Henry Schenk. www.lakeviewfuneralhome.net
