SHERBURN -- A celebration of life service for Helen M. Menssen, 89, of Sherburn, Minn., will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2023, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sherburn, with burial at a later date in the Sherburn Cemetery.
Helen was called to her eternal rest Saturday morning, Jan. 21, 2023, at Good Samaritan Society-Pleasant View in St. James, Minn. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2023, at Kramer Family Funeral Home in Sherburn, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. Helen Marie Howard was born June 17, 1933, to Albert and Amelia (Wink) Howard in Martin County, Minn. She attended school in Sherburn. On Sept. 23, 1950, she was united in marriage to Walter Menssen at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sherburn, Minn. After their marriage they farmed in the Butterfield area until moving to Cape Coral, Florida. In 1976, they moved to Sherburn. They lived there until Walter died on July 24, 2006. Helen continued living in Sherburn as a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Those who shared in Helen's life: her two sons, Larry Menssen of Sherburn, Minn., and Kenneth Menssen and his wife, Hwa of Sherburn, Minn.; four grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, June Mueller and her husband, Keith of Watertown, Minn. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter Menssen; brother, Gene Howard; daughter-in-law, Cindy; grandson, John; and great-grandson, Waylon.
