Dorothy ‘Dodie’ A. Hartwig

WELCOME -- Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy "Dodie" A. Hartwig, 82, of Welcome, Minn., will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. Burial will be following the service in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be

two hours prior to the time of service from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Jan.21, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church.

Dorothy passed away Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2023, at her home near Welcome, Minn., surrounded by her loving family. The family prefers memorials be directed to the Saint John Vianney Endowment Fund. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dorothy "Dodie" Ann (Feely) Hartwig was born April 5, 1940, in Silver Lake Township, rural Martin County, Minn., the daughter of William and Dorothy (Zimbrick) Feely. As a young girl, Dodie attended country school District 5 before attending Fairmont High School where she earned her diploma. On June 13, 1957, Dodie was united in marriage to Burdean Charles Hartwig at Holy Family Catholic Church in East Chain, Minn. The couple made their home in Lexington Park, Md., and later on a farm near Welcome, Minn. To this union, four children were born, Deb, Donna, Brian and Bruce. Dodie cherished the opportunity to stay at home and raise her children while they were young. She was also employed at J.C Penney's and McDonalds in addition to helping on the family farm until her retirement in 2006. Dorothy was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church and was active in CCW. She enjoyed

working on crossword puzzles and was an avid sports fan. Dodie especially looked forward to attending events for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and supporting them in their endeavors. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Burdean Hartwig; children, Deb (Bill) Chukuske, Donna (Craig) Webb, Brian (Deb) Hartwig, and Bruce (Tammy) Hartwig; grandchildren, Sarah (Scott) Klimek, Ryan (Megan) Chukuske, Megan (Tim) Swanson, Emily

(Travis) Enger, Nick (Emily Kelly) Webb, Tyler Webb, Andrea (Tiphany) Hartwig, Mariah (Chehalis) Hartwig, and Joshua (Desirae Hoffman) Hartwig; great-grandchildren, Brett, Jada, Ian, Brianna, Dominic, Keely, Chloe, Bryson, Hadley, Cian, Abram, Emersyn, Eloise, and Scarlette; sister, Barb Welp; brothers, Pat (Gayle) Feely, Tom (Linda) Feely, and Frank Feely; sisters-in-law, Sharlene Feely and Barb Hartwig; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, William and Dorothy Feely; granddaughter, Taylor Hartwig; brothers, Father Ted Feely and James Feely; sisters, Bonnie (Raymond) Sukalski, and Harriet (Allan) Wesselmann; brothers-in-law, George Welp and Dwain Hartwig; nephews, Larry Hartwig and Tom Feely; as well as other relatives. www.lakeviewfuneralhome.net
