Kim Anderson

FAIRMONT — A funeral service for Kim A. Anderson, 76, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 9-10:30 a.m. Friday at the church. Military honors will be provided by Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 and Martin County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1222. The family is planning a celebration of life service to be held in May. Kim passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn. Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements. Kim Arthur Anderson was born July 8, 1946, in Minneapolis, Minn. He was raised in Fairmont, Minn. by Arthur and Lorraine Anderson.

He graduated from Fairmont High School in 1964 and served in the U.S. Navy between 1969-1973. Kim graduated from Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall with a degree in history and philosophy. Kim worked as a personnel manager at an international

resort chain, Club Mediterranee (Club Med), for almost 20 years, living and working in 34 different countries. He also took advantage of being in these different locations by traveling to more countries in the surrounding areas. In 1993, Kim was united in marriage to Atiek Hendrakusumah. This union was blessed with their only child, Jody Kartika. In his retirement, Kim continued to be an avid learner as he audited classes at Minnesota State University, Mankato and Gustavus Adolphus College. He took interest in classes such as:

history, philosophy, film studies, Scandinavian studies, and even learned a few new languages (Swedish, German and Spanish). In the end, what was most important to him were his wife and daughter, and all of his family and friends who are spread out around the

world.

Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Atiek; daughter, Jody; sister, Kris (Kenny) Sathoff; stepbrothers, Greg Shish and Robert Shish; stepsister, Carolyn Le Mieur; aunt, Phyllis Nolan; many cousins, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. He was

preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Arthur and Lorraine Anderson.
