BURNSVILLE -- Roger William Franke, age 93, of Burnsville, Minn., passed away Friday, Jan. 6, 2023, at Sunrise Senior Living of Edina. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. on Jan. 27, at Mary, Mother of the Church, 3333 Cliff Rd E. in Burnsville, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
He was born Oct. 13, 1929, in Blue Earth, Minn., graduated from Fairmont High School in 1947, and attended Mankato State Teachers College. In 1950, he attended George Barr Umpire School in Sanford, Fla. Roger was an umpire in minor league baseball before becoming a teacher. Roger is survived by his son, Dave (Rita) Franke; daughter, Nancy (Kevin) Wilson; and grandchildren, Brandon (Hannah) Franke, Gabrielle, and Madeline Wilson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (nee Factor); parents; brother, Maurice; and sister, Lois Didricksen.
