Mary Ann Tonn
WINNEBAGO — Mary Ann Tonn, age 89, of Winnebago, passed away Sunday, Jan. 8, 2023, at UHD in Blue Earth. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winnebago, with Fr. Gregory Parrott officiating. Burial will be at a later date at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Mary Ann was born June 1, 1933, in Mankato, Minn., to Aloys and Mathilda (Kateman) Noy. She attended country school and graduated from Good Counsel in Mankato. On Nov. 11, 1954, she married Harold Tonn in Vernon Center. They later moved to Truman and then to the farm northwest of Winnebago in September 1955. They farmed for many years and then Harold started Harold’s Repair. When she wasn’t helping raise their 8 children or assisting on the farm, Mary Ann also worked at the Treatment Center in Winnebago for many years as well as the Winnebago Bakery. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the auxiliary. The loving family left to cherish wonderful memories are her children, Diane (Clem) Condon, Jan (Larry) McCreary, James (Pam) Tonn, Karen (Brian) Fowler, Nancy (Chad) Pittman, Steven Tonn, Lisa (Darrin) Anderson, and Terry Tonn; grandchildren, Adam, Jamie, Tammy, Bruce, Bridget, Beth, Jessie, Kristine, Nicole, Emily and Levi; 16 great-grandchildren; as well as many other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and siblings, Ann Mendenhall, Bill Noy and Agnes Crowley.
