Berniece ‘Bea’ E. Schultz
TRUMAN — Berniece “Bea” E. Schultz, age 83, of Truman, passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her family. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2023, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Truman, with Rev. Timothy Chase officiating. A time for visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Zaharia Family Funeral Home in Truman, and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church. Burial will take place at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Truman. Memorials are preferred to St. Paul’s Lutheran School and to Martin Luther High School.
Berniece Elaine Schultz was born Jan. 18, 1939, in Pleasant Mound Township, rural Amboy, Minn., to Alvin and Lorena (Urban) Borkenhagen. She became a child of God through baptism on Feb. 12, 1939, and was confirmed on June 29, 1952, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fieldon. She attended District 83 country school through the 8th grade and graduated from Truman High School in 1956. Bea was united in marriage to Ronald H. Schultz on Nov. 16, 1958, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fieldon. Together, they raised their three children on the farm in rural Truman. Bea was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and loved attending Bible classes. She was very active in her congregation. When the children were in grade school, Bea was often a room mother. She was Ruth Circle president and later secretary of Ladies Aid/LWML for many years. Bea made and donated many quilts for charity and also made one-of-a-kind quilts for each of her great-grandchildren. Bea is survived by her husband, Ronald; children, Sonia (Daryl) Hoewisch, Faith (Robert) Sitzman, and Timothy (Lynn) Schultz; grandchildren, Danica (Chris Hayden) Schieber, Andrew (Beth) Schieber, Steven (Rachael) Sitzman, Nathan (Alisha) Schieber, Matthew (Celeste) Sitzman, and Daric (Katy) Sitzman; great-grandchildren, Alex, Roland, and Juliet Stith, Ariel, Judah, and Zion Schieber, Winnifred, Lew, and Reginald Sitzman, Christi, Gabriel, Elijah, and Caspian Schieber, and Malcolm and Eleanor Sitzman; sister, Margie Kroells; sisters-in-law, Janet Tyrrell, Arlys Rullman, and Mary (Darrell) Golnitz; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
