Doreen F. Rabbe

There is no better gift in this season than the gift of heaven. She lived a good and full life. She was born to Henry and Erna (Ehlert) Harder on her mother’s birthday, Sept. 21, 1930, and confirmed on April 18, 1944, at St. John’s E&R Church in Fairmont, Minn. She attended country school through the 8th grade at District 106, Waverly Township. Doreen graduated from Fairmont High School in 1948. After high school she worked in the office at Railway Motors and then later for Dr. R.L. Parsons in Trimont, on and off as needed. Fred and Doreen started their own bulk gas truck business in 1955 and she was the bookkeeper until their retirement in 1993. She was introduced to Fred on the dance floor at Interlaken Ballroom. They were married on Nov. 29, 1952, in their home church. She became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in 1953. They built their home of 60 years in Triumph, later known as Trimont. They moved to Goldfinch Estates in 2014. Their marriage was blessed with 5 children. Doreen was active and held various offices within church organizations; Mothers Club, Friendship Club, Ladies Aid, LWML meetings/conventions. She loved to sew, crochet, needlework, quilt, read, play cards and games with her family and friends. She was never too busy or tired to read a book or play cards with her children or grandchildren. She belonged to several bridge and 500 card playing groups throughout the years. Her cooking and baking skills were well known. There was always fresh baked items and coffee available for company. Always had three square meals a day for whoever was at the table. They attended numerous sporting events and programs for their grandchildren and Martin County West teams. Doreen is survived by three sons and a daughter; Greg (Deb) Rabbe of Northrop, Minn., Sherry (Doug) Stevern of Watertown, Minn., Richard (Sharie) Rabbe of Lamberton, Minn., Monty (Kimberly) Rabbe of Windom, Minn.; grandchildren, Angela, Casey, Shana, Rachel, Andy, Ethan and Zachery; step-grandchildren, Brad, Dan, and Luke; 10 great-grandchildren; eight great-step-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Morrison of North Branch, Minn.; many nieces and nephews whom she truly appreciated and loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Fred; son, James Brian Rabbe; her parents; three infant brothers; sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and Gordon Wolle; brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Mary Ann Harder.
