AUBURN, Wash. -- Janice Rae (Benck) Tietje, formerly of Fairmont, Minn., passed away peacefully Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022, in Bellevue, Wash., surrounded by her family and reunited with her husband, Eldon. A service and burial for Janice and Eldon will be held at a later date in Fairmont.
Janice was born Nov. 28, 1937, in Granada, Minn., to Walter and Evelyn (Smith) Benck. Janice attended St. Paul's Lutheran grade school and Fairmont High School. Janice met Eldon in grade school, and they later married, on March 26, 1955. Together, they had a dairy farm for many years in rural Fairmont. Some of her fondest memories were of sitting in the 4020 tractor during the fall season, her favorite time of the year. They moved to Seattle, Wash. in 1985 and settled in Auburn, Wash., where they remained until Eldon's passing. They were blessed with 4 children and shared 65 years of marriage before Eldon's death. Janice is survived by her children, Brenda Aday of Buckley, Wash., and Russ (Sue) Tietje of Issaquah, Wash.; her sister, Sharon Rasmussen of Fairmont, Minn.; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eldon; two children, Lori (infant) and Cathy Osmundson; and two brothers, Wayne and Larry Benck.
