Arlene E. Alm

FAIRMONT -- A funeral service for Arlene E. Alm, 93, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023, at St. John's United Church of Christ in Fairmont. Burial will follow the service in Lakeside Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of service from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at St. John's United Church of Christ in Fairmont.

Arlene passed away Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Arlene Ellen (Williams) Alm was born April 4, 1929, in Maple Hill, Iowa, the daughter of Bernard and Esther (Anderson) Williams. As a young girl, Arlene moved with her family to Fairmont where she attended school and graduated from Fairmont High School. On Feb. 13, 1949, Arlene was united in marriage to Gordon D. Alm at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church in Fairmont. The couple made their home in Fairmont and were blessed with four children, David, Linda, Allen, and Julie. Arlene worked at 3M, Madsen's, and later Weigh-Tronix where she completed her career and retired. In her spare time, Arlene enjoyed playing cards, games, and was even known to play pull tabs on occasion. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Red Hat Ladies Group in Fairmont, American Legion Auxiliary, and past member of the Fairmont Fire Department Auxiliary. In her retirement, Arlene volunteered much of her time at the senior center and took care of the day-to-day duties there. Arlene loved to socialize, and she looked forward to making her daily trip to check in on her kids or friends and visiting over a cup of coffee. Left to cherish her memory are her children, David Alm and his wife, Debra of Fairmont, Minn., Linda Hinz and her husband, Mark of Fairmont, Allen Alm and his wife, Sharyl of Bloomington, Minn., and Julie Alm of Fairmont; seven grandchildren, Jamie (Kris) Pendergast, Kristina (Nick) Kuehl, Noah (Christina) Alm, Philip (Stacey) Alm, Eric (Megan) Alm, Bryan (Sarah Lochner) Alm, and Madisyn Plumhoff; seven great-grandchildren, Grace Pendergast, Reece Kuehl, Quintin Kuehl, Addison Alm, Avery Alm, Aspen Alm, and Paisley Alm; sister, Marjorie Harris; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
