Carol Jahnke

LAKE CRYSTAL -- Carol Irene Jahnke, age 76, of Lake Crystal, Minn. formerly of Madelia, Minn., died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022, at the Crystal Seasons in Lake Crystal. A service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022, at Sturm Funeral Home, Pilgrim Chapel, in Madelia, with visitation one hour prior at the funeral home. Clergy will be Rev. Janet Adams. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Madelia. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home, Pilgrim Chapel in Madelia. Online condolences may be left for the family at

Carol Irene Kennedy was born April 3, 1946, in Madelia, Minn., to Thomas and Eleanora Kennedy. She grew up in Madelia and graduated from Madelia High School in 1964. She married Wayne Jahnke on Oct. 8, 1969, in Sioux Falls, S.D. The couple lived in rural Madelia for many years. Carol spent much of her time as a homemaker and working endless hours with Wayne collecting and recycling scrap metals. She enjoyed coloring pictures, tending to their many farm cats and was a loving grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She and her husband Wayne spent their most recent years together at Crystal Seasons in Lake Crystal.

She will be dearly missed by her husband, Wayne Jahnke; children, Mark, Terry and Wayne Jahnke, Jr.; grandchildren, Tracy, Ashley, Brittany, Curtis, Cody, Terri, Gena, Amy; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and daughters-in-law, Paula Jahnke and Jennifer Jahnke.
