SHERBURN -- A private family service for Daniel C. Nelson, 64, of Dunnell, Minn., will be held Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022, at the Sherburn Assembly of God Regional Worship Center in Sherburn, Minn. Burial will be at a later date in Lake Fremont Cemetery, rural Dunnell, Minn.
Daniel Carl Nelson, loving husband and father of two children, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2022, at his home in Dunnell, at the age of 64. Dan was born Oct. 3, 1958, in Trimont, Minn. to Robert E. and Janet (Rupe) Nelson. He was in the Sherburn High School graduating class of 1977. On March 11, 1978, he married Kathy Loos at the Assembly of God Church in Sherburn, Minn. They raised two children together, Sommer and Tony. Dan was the manager of the Dunnell Telephone Company for 40 years. Dan served the community of Dunnell in many ways. He was the Mayor of Dunnell for 30 years and was a volunteer firefighter and EMT for 40 years. Most of all, Dan loved the time he could spend with his grandchildren, whether attending their events and programs or just spending nights at grandpa’s house. He also enjoyed hunting, photography and had a passion for the many hours enjoyed on his family farm located near Dunnell. He was a member of the Assembly of God Regional Worship Center in Sherburn, Minn. and will be remembered for his commitment to his faith. Dan was preceded in death by his father, Bob; his mother, Janet; and his brother, Mike. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; his daughter, Sommer Kleve (and husband Matt); son, Tony (and wife Emily); six grandchildren, Henry, Emma, Gracie, Harper, Olivia and Victor; his sister, Patty Rauhauser; brother-in-law, Steve Loos; sisters-in-law, Vicki Lutterman, Patty Bakken and Renee Nelson; father-in-law, Weldon Loos; mother-in-law, FairaMae Loos; several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and cousins.
