June went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, Nov. 5, 2022, at Goldfinch Memory Care in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

June F. Bowdin was born June 11, 1940, in Minneapolis, Minn., the daughter of Erick and Frances Hallberg. She married Richard Bowdin on Aug. 27, 1961, and they had three daughters. They have resided in Fairmont since 1965. June’s faith in Jesus was lived out through her gentle, loving ways. A ’58 graduate from St. Paul Park High School, June earned her Baccalaureate Degree in Music Education at the University of Minnesota, and a Master’s Degree in Education with special certificate from Mankato State University. June was a band director and music teacher in Welcome, Sherburn, and Truman. June and Dick met while playing in the wind ensemble at the U of MN. Over the years, their musical tours took them to Europe, Russia, and Scandinavia. June and Dick played with the Fairmont City Band for 55 years, as well as with numerous other bands and ensembles. June created beauty through home decorating, gardening, and landscaping. She was an award-winning painter, an excellent seamstress, and she constructed a two-story Victorian dollhouse. She loved being with her family for games, fishing, camping, and vacations and was an active volunteer leader and participant with many local and statewide organizations. June was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Carol Brotzler, and will be greatly missed by her husband, Richard; daughters Linda Bowdin, Cindy (Chris) Wessel, and Pam (Tom) Hawley; grandchildren, Ehren Wessel, Jacob (Becca) Wessel, Katrina (Will) Miller, Dave Hawley, and Leah Hawley; great-granddaughter, Madelyn Wessel; sisters, Sally Weed and Jeroldine (Frank Lacey) Hallberg. www.lakeviewfuneralhome.net
