CYLINDER, Iowa -- Betsy Barnes Greenhill Norland of Cylinder passed away peacefully Sunday morning, Nov. 13, 2022, at the Palo Alto County Hospital, at the age of 60, following a courageous battle with cancer. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Depew, Iowa, with Rev. Kevin Weeks, officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg, Iowa. Inurnment will take place at a later date in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery – South, Cylinder, Iowa. Arrangements by Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg, Iowa.
Betsy Barnes Greenhill was born June 1, 1962, in Marion, Ohio, the daughter of William and Anne (Barnes) Greenhill. Survivors include her husband, Mike Norland; daughter, Amy (Scott) Funke of Rochester, Minn.; son, Neal, at home; granddaughter, Emma; mother, Anne of Downers Grove, Ill.; sister, Jennifer (Mark) Hoskins of Bartlett, Ill.; brothers, Douglas (Kathy) Greenhill of Houston, Texas, and John Greenhill of Downers Grove, Ill.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Teresa (David) Goddard of Montevideo, Minn., Barbara (Charles) Corr of Clinton, Iowa, Patricia (Greg) Wolf of Urbandale, Iowa, Cynthia Norland of Algona, Iowa, Jeffrey (Annette) Norland of Marion, Iowa, and Lorelei (Sean) Patterson of Naperville, Ill.; aunt, Noel Hinde of Carmichael, Calif.; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family requests that memorials be directed to breast cancer support and research through the B the Light organization or the Susan G. Komen Metastatic Breast Cancer Collaborative Research Initiative.
