Schwanz died Saturday afternoon, Nov. 5, 2022, at her home in St. James. Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14, at Augustana Lutheran Church in St. James. Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont is in charge of arrangements.

Karla Jean Schaefer was born Aug. 15, 1955, in Triumph, Minn., to David and Marlene (Cook) Schaefer.

Survivors include: her sons, Michael Schwanz of Bloomington, Minn., and Daron Schwanz of St. James, Minn.; two grandchildren; mother, Marlene Ann Schaefer of Raeford, N.C.; brothers and sisters, Steven Schaefer of Cedar Park, Texas, Carol Johnson of Raeford, N.C., Don Schaefer of Edgemont, S.D., Carol Schaefer of North Plymouth, Minn., and twin sister, Karen Brown of Fort Dodge, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
